Google is banning election ads after the polls close, once again

Google is again placing a ban on election ads after the polls close on November 5th.
This is to prevent and limit the potential use of misinformation surrounding the US
presidential election. It is also the second time that Google has done this after
implementing it following the 2020 election between Biden and Trump. Google states
they’re doing it “out of an abundance of caution and to limit the potential for
confusion"; After the 2020 election, the announcement of Biden’s victory took
multiple days as a result of an influx of the postal voting system during the pandemic.
The ban is applied through any Google platform, including Google Ads and
YouTube. This system will allow fair voting and will prevent any misconceptions with
voting systems during the counting process.
