This week the world’s tallest woman, Rumeysa Gelgi, a Turkish advocate and researcher, and the world's shortest woman, Jyoti Amge, an actor from India, met in London at the Savoy hotel to celebrate Guinness World Record Day, Thursday 21st. The height of the world's tallest woman is 2 metres and 15.16 cm/7 ft 0.7, and the height of the world's smallest woman is 62.8 cm/24.7 inches. Jyoti Agme has held the Guinness world record award since December 16th, 2011, not being surpassed since. Guinness World Records Day was originally held in the year 2004 to mark the accomplishment of the Guinness World Record being the best-selling copyright book of all time. The day has inspired many people to come forward in an attempt to set new world records and is also a day of celebration for those who have already beaten world records themselves. During their meeting, Ms. Gelgi joked about their size difference, commenting that it was “difficult for us to make eye contact at times” because of their difference in height, the daily mail states. As a result, the pair of record-breaking women have been honoured as icons of the Guiness World record in the book's 70th anniversary edition.
