Icloud storage monopoly

Apple is potentially facing a lawsuit in the amount of £3 billion, which has been enforced by the consumer group Which?. The company is accusing the trillion-dollar tech company of abusing the company's dominance and influence to overcharge millions of UK customers for unnecessary high amounts for cloud storage. Which? argues that customers are "trapped," which is due to the company’s monopoly due to its control over the amounts of storage available. The consumer group also argues that due to Apple increasing cloud storage prices by 29% since last year, this has limited consumer choice and has had a high effect on the dictation of what Apple users will have access to. The estimation of the amount of customers that are eligible for compensation is 40 million iPhone users. Which? has commented on the treatment of the Apple customers: “Taking this legal action means we can help consumers to get the redress that they are owed, and deter similar behaviour in the future, and create a, more competitive market." Apple has denied the allegations and believes that the prices are set at an average price and are worth what the storage provides, “users are not required to use the cloud, and many rely on third-party alternatives for data storage" computing news states. Apple has a fair point in that, it is the consumer's choice in what they choose to spend their money on; let’s stay tuned and see what happens.
