Jacquemus has opened a store in New York

Fashion Designer Simon Porte, founder of Jacquemus French fashion brand known
for its playful, minimalist designs, oversized and miniature silhouettes exaggerated
proportions, especially oversized blazers and dresses, as well as its signature mini
bags like the “Le Chiquito,” which became a fashion sensation has finally opened a
new store in New York. The French brand also plans to open two more stores by the
end of spring 2025. Mr. Jacquemus, aged 34 launched the brand in 2009 is now set
on a global expansion with his first American store opening in Manhattan. Besides
his stores in his home city, Paris, Seoul, St.Tropez and Dubai. The brand is also
planning to open another store on New Bond Street, a luxury store hub based in
London. The store in New York City will be located in SoHo, Spring street, next door
to the renowned French brand, Chanel.
There has been speculation about Simon as a potential successor to Karl Lagerfeld
as the creative director of Chanel following Lagerfeld’s death in February 2019.
However, as of now, Chanel has not officially appointed Jacquemus or anyone else
to that position but being neighbours could be an exciting sign.
Simon shared his opinions on being next door to Chanel and expanding his brand,
“When someone leaves a big house my name is mentioned more and more”. He is
proud of his accomplishments and is looking forward to making his luxury brand a
bigger name in industry. When the store was opened in New York, crowds gathered
to witness his success. The store building itself will be two-stories high, developed by
the architectural firm, OMA and inside includes designer furniture and paintings. His
luxury bag line has been seen on the stars, Dua Lipa, K-pop star Jennie Kim from

Blackpink, and the supermodel sisters Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid. We look forward
to seeing the expansion of the brand and what is next to come for Simon.
