The football team Manchester City and the Premier League have claimed victory in the legal case over the Associated Party Transactions. The general of Manchester City, Simon Cliff has sent a letter to 19 different clubs in the Premier League, ruling an accusation that the league has “misled” them regarding the Associated Party transactions. This means that Manchester City has been liable to have been breaching the rules of running past dealings and signings of players past “associated Parties”. The “associated parties” are companies or people who have a high interest in the club, mainly financially. The Premier League's response to Simon Cliff's letter was that the letter contains “several inaccuracies” about whether Manchester City has breached the rules. The Premier League has put these rules in place to create “fairness” within “club ownership” and “reliance on enhanced commercial revenues”. The arbitration panel claimed that the rules in 2021 and 2023 to be “unlawful” by the team and excluded shareholder loans. The Premier League has deemed Manchester City to be unsuccessful with the teams challenging. It is claimed that Manchester City have breached 115 financial rules, however, if Manchester wins the case, this could result in the team suing the Premier League.
