Who is set to be London’s next mayor?

Sadiq Khan has not come forward and stated whether he will be the mayor of London historically for the fourth term. Although some Labour figures are already being put forward as potential successors to Sadiq Khan. Some of the potential runners for the position are Stella Creasy, the Labour MP for Walthamstow; Florence Eshalomi, the Labour MP for Vauxhall and Camberwell Green; and also Dr. Rosena Allin Khan, who is a former shadow minister for mental health from 2020-2023, and she also represents Mr. Khan’s former seat of Tooting. A spokesperson for Dr. Allin-Khan stated, “We have a brilliant Labour mayor of London and Sadiq, who’s just been re-elected and is delivering for London, including freezing bus fares and universal free school meals.” In May this year, Sadiq Khan won the election, making history by this being done for the third time. It was the first election to be done using the “first past the post” system, where each individual selects who they want to be voted for, and the elected, having the most votes, was the mayor chosen. Let’s see what the mayoral election in 2028 will hold; perhaps a female mayor of London will be elected.
