It appears artificial intelligence has officially infiltrated all areas of our lives with a radio station in Poland, Off Radio, has begun using AI to obtain regular listeners for the station. They’ve fired all of their segment presenters and replaced them with experimental AI hosts. Their goal was to appeal to a younger audience and therefore created a set of “Gen Z” AI show presenters. The change was successful with an increase by 8000 listeners but not without backlash. Although the station's decision has caused some controversy and discussion about a “widespread job destruction” that AI could cause. There is already concern about AI replacing jobs, an issue people have feared since technology began to develop, and is now a reality; should we be preparing for an AI takeover of jobs? The editor of the radio station has been accused by the New York Times of “sacrificing humans on the altar of technology” through them making this decision. Mariusz Marcin Pulit stated in response, “I have been turned into a job-killing monster who wants to replace real people with avatars." However, that was what his plan was from the very beginning. Shall we as a society be concerned about the threat that AI has on our occupations?
