If someone had told us five years ago that renowned Italian fashion house Emilio Pucci would have a female Artistic Director, we would have chuckled and said no way. On September 2021, Camille Miceli became the first female Artistic Director of the brand, thus defying the odds. Her tenure in the industry boasts positions in Chanel, Alaia and most notably Louis Vuitton, where she was a fashion jewellery creative director and fine jewellery consultant.
Camille’s journey started at the young age of 15 as an intern for both Alaia and Chanel. She stayed on at Chanel as a publicist. She then joined Louis Vuitton in 1997 when Marc Jacobs took the helm. She started off by designing the costume jewellery for the Maison, eventually transitioning into fashion jewellery as the Artistic Director alongside being the fine jewellery consultant for the house. She worked on not just Jacob’s debut collection but also the Pharrell Williams Collaborative jewellery collection that launched in 2008. After years at the illustrious French Maison, Camille went on to Dior, working alongside the likes of John Galliano and later Raf Simons, helping them to expand their jewellery department. She ultimately returned to Louis Vuitton in 2014 to oversee all their accessories, from fashion jewellery to leather goods.
It was Camille’s creativity, tenacity and resilience that saw her land her current role as Artistic Director at Pucci. She instantaneously elevated the brands designs and handcrafted techniques with a modern and fresh perspective. Camille’s vision for the house is to emulate the rich heritage of the renowned Maison, through her lens mounding a hint of her artistic flare with the Pucci designs that brought the brand fame over the years. A mastermind at what she does, she uses archival Pucci prints, redrawing them and then creating a feeling behind the collections that resonates with people.
This May will see Camille present her first runway show for the Maison, bringing Pucci back home to Florence. The House will show its summer collection “Initials EP” under her creative direction and will be available on a see-now-buy-now basis starting on the same day. Expressing that the collection is a continuing tribute to Emilio Pucci, bringing out his personality with every design, Camille says “I certainly consider that the Pucci woman is not a woman who is afraid to dare, because she wears powerful colors and prints in a casual way.” This we believe to be true of both the brand and ultimately her.
