The US House of Representatives voted against Donald Trump surrounding a funding bill that was backed by the president. If there is not a deal put in place between Donald Trump and the representatives, this will result in the shutting down of some federal services. The Republican Party has agreed to find a solution to their disagreement over the government funding going ahead before the deadline. Although this is not a rare occurrence within the White House, this is due to a 1980 act that rules that without a budget, spending is not permitted. This act means that if the House of Representatives does not approve of a budget, there will not be any money for the government to willingly spend, and as a result, nonessential services will begin to close, and a variety of public employees will not get paid. Some of those services include food assistance, federally funded preschool, national parks being opened, and student loans. However, essential day-to-day services will remain open, some including border protection, law enforcement, and power grid maintenance. Elon Musk has commented on this issue, calling it “criminal,” supporting Donald Trump’s decision, the BBC has stated. Donald Trump has been the president for not very long and already has his representatives not agreeing with him. What is next for America?
