Assassination Attempt Injures Republican Party Nominee and Former United States President Donald Trump at Pennsylvania Rally

An attacker fired multiple rounds toward the stage at former United States president, Donald Trump minutes into his campaign speech at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania before being neutralised by Secret Service agents. 

One person in the audience was killed by the attacker, and two others are in critical condition. 

Trump pumped his fist in the air appearing to mouth the word "fight." as he was led down the stairs of the stage and toward an SUV.

In his first remarks after the attack, Trump expressed shock and offered condolences to the victims, while thanking law enforcement. 

He has since left the local hospital and will still attend the Republican National Convention next week as planned.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes following the gunfire. The incident is being investigated as an assassination attempt.

United States President, Joe Biden condemned the attack on camera minutes after the attack and later spoke privately with Trump. The White House did not disclose the details of their conversation.

Trump's campaign confirmed that he will attend the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next week, where he is expected to be officially named the Republican Party's nominee for president and announce his vice-presidential pick.

Images of a defiant Trump, with blood on his face, being rushed off the stage by Secret Service agents are poised to become historic and could impact the November presidential election.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's office responded to the apparent shooting with a statement condemning political violence and extending best wishes to Trump and his family.

Elon Musk endorsed Trump shortly after the attack, expressing hopes for Trump's rapid recovery and comparing him to Theodore Roosevelt.

Americans will head to the polls on November 5th, 2024 to elect their next president.
