The English Football Association has decided to back the Saudi Arabia bid to host the World Cup in the year 2034, which was a decision that was “not difficult.” Organisers for the event have insisted that everyone will be welcome regardless of who they are and what they represent. The country has been criticised for its multiple violations against human rights, women’s rights, and the criminalisation of any homosexual acts. Before supporting the bid, BBC Radio 5 Live, the England FA, asked “a lot of questions” before making their decision because of the country’s ideologies and laws in place. The FA stated to NewsPoint Nigeria, “We asked a lot of questions, they gave us a lot of time, and they gave us a lot of commitments, and I think the important thing is that we will now work with them.” Last month, the FA met with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to discuss the bid and to help the FA come forward with their decision. 2034 will be an eventful year for the World Cup.
