Gary Lineker has decided to longer host Match of the Day, which he has done for 25 years on BBC Sport. He believes that “it's the right time," stated by the BBC; who are planning on taking the infamous program down a “slightly different” route, and Gary believes that route does not align with his. As a result, the BBC has announced a four-year deal that will enable the BBC to show Premier League highlights starting next season. Although Lineker is leaving Match of the Day, he will remain with the BBC to broadcast the next season of the FA Cup and 2026 men’s World Cup. Gary expresses his thoughts and feelings and the memories of his time at Match of the Day: “I've done Match of the Day for 25 years. It’s been an absolute joy and a privilege to present such an iconic show for the BBC. But all things must come to an end." Let’s see who takes Lineker’s place, as the show begins to take a new route. We wish them the best of luck.
