Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis Remains Undefeated After Scoring A Seventh-Round Knockout of Ryan Garcia In Las Vegas

“I’m definitely the face of boxing,” Davis declared after taking out Garcia with a withering body shot during the seventh round on Saturday night. 

In what was the year’s most anticipated fight that earned him the duly-earned title as the face of American boxing, the 28-year-old three-division champion sealed the deal with an uppercut to the ribs that was so quick, it was almost baffling when Garcia fell to one knee. By count ten, the 24-year-old boxer who was also undefeated prior to the blockbuster fight hadn’t recovered from the left-hand punch to his liver. 

I couldn’t breathe,” said Garcia. “I don’t want to make no excuses in here. I just couldn’t recover and that’s it. He caught me with a good body shot, snuck underneath and he caught me good.”

Celebrity attendees on the night included Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Mike Tyson, Michael B. Jordan, Chance The Rapper, Manny Pacquiao, Mark Wahlberg and Floyd Mayweather who joined Davis in the ring, whispered several words of encouragement to the undefeated star throughout the match. 

When asked to reveal Mayweather's message to him in the ring before the fight, Davis said: ‘He gave me great words, he was telling me to stay calm. I always like to listen to Floyd when it comes to big stages like this because he’s the only one who has been in my shoes and been in these types of fights.” 

Davis first became boxing’s second-youngest world champion 6 years prior at just 22 years old.
