The H&M x Mugler collaborative collection is coming soon! Creative Director Casey Cadwallader presents an ode to the fashion Maison’s founder, Thierry Mugler. The collection, featuring both womenswear, menswear and accessories, will launch in select stores and online on 11 May2023.
Encapsulating the essence of Mugler, the collection features designs that the brand has long since been revered for, fusing classic signatures with more modern motifs that unite past and present. A dynamic showcase of the captivating ways in which Cadwallader has reinvented the Maison, making it relevant for a new generation. This collaboration is a way to open the doors into the exclusive world of luxury fashion for H&M, providing more affordable, illustrious pieces for their customers.
“This collection is a watershed moment for the house of Mugler – a chance for us to celebrate our history and the pieces that we are beloved for today,” said Casey Cadwallader, creative director of Mugler. “The collaboration includes many of our signatures, from catsuits and bodycon dresses to tailoring, denim and beautiful, bold jewellery and accessories.” Ann-Sofie Johansson, the creative advisor at H&M, added, “Casey and the Mugler team have been incredibly generous in offering up so many of the house’s classics and signatures, which shoppers will recognise from the runway and red carpet. The collection encapsulates the H&M ethos of sharing great fashion and democratizing design. Every piece is an icon.”
The womenswear segment of the collection consists of a series of shapes and cuts Mugler is known for, defined by oversized shoulders and cinched waists. A nod to the curves and lines of the body and confidence, leather outwear contrasts with sumptuous dresses and figure-hugging catsuits, whilst denim trousers and jackets with nylon panels make for standout pieces. The menswear side of the collection includes an array of sharply tailored designs, leather silhouettes, blazers and a trench coat with engraved buttons. Genderless accessories such as sheer gloves, tights, bags and scarves are also worthy of note, alongside silver and gold body chains, earrings and necklaces which the collection offers.
The collection is a continuation of the high-low collaborations H&M has been known for over the years. The Swedish brand has released collaborative collections with the likes of Stella McCartney, Moschino, Maison Margiela, Balmain, Isabel Marant, Comme des Garçons, Lanvin, Versace, Simon Rocha and Giambattista Valli.
