On the evening of Tuesday 20th February 2024, we hosted the release party for our February #TheStyleIssue in the company of 250 fashion friends old and new, bringing the stylish revelry of London Fashion Week to a shining close.
The venue of choice was the prestigious Other House, the luxury hotel situated in the vibrant heart of South Kensington, where flashes of cameras greeted the arrival of some of the UK’s hottest artists and influencers including the renowned Love Island duo Tyrique and Ella. Amidst the chic ambience indoors, we had the brief pleasure of catching up with the pair, delving into all things fashion week as they broke down their outfit details. Both opting for elevated casual looks, Tyrique sported a Gallery Department long sleeve with classic cargos, while Ella exuded effortless glamour in a fur leather jacket, an asymmetrical black tee and faded leather jeans, made complete with a statement Louis Vuitton bag. “It’s a joy being around creatives, [with] everyone expressing their fashion,” Ella expressed. When we asked about their upcoming ventures, she teased that exciting things are in the pipeline and to stay tuned for what’s next.
The dress code for the evening was one word: “fashionable” – playfully vague to give attendees carte blanche to interpret it as they pleased, allowing their creativity and self-expression to speak for them. Guests mingled, champagne flowed and fancy appetisers circulated. Among the crowd, we chatted with Olivia Prince, founder of Murci who, just six weeks after welcoming her newborn, showed up looking fabulous and ready to dive back into work. “I like to keep busy”, she quipped.
Sleek matte black gift bags awaited each guest as a token of our appreciation, each containing a coveted copy of the magazine, along with a delectable cupcake courtesy of Absolutely Cupcakes – featured on page 86 of the issue.
Editor-in-chief Phadria Pendergrast took the stage midway through the evening where she highlighted The W’s dedication to helping those at the beginning of their fashion career through mentorship, guidance and networking opportunities such as this issue release soirée. Notably, The W has long been a champion for emerging voices in fashion, exemplified by its annual W Fashion Week which last year saw an incredible show with a backstage crew of over 300 newbies. “It's not just about the big four fashion weeks like London, New York, Paris and Milan; it's about creating a platform for fashion enthusiasts that don't usually get invited to these kinds of things,” she emphasised. “It's all about recognition and giving people a platform, and that is why you’re all here today.”
The Style Issue celebrates the best of British style, featuring articles across fashion, beauty, health, lifestyle, food, all curated to embody the ethos of slow fashion and quiet luxury. Copies will be made available for purchase on our website, so keep an eye on our socials for updates on when you can get your hands on it.
