On Thursday, October 31st, in Nevada, Harris’ was mocked by Trump campaigners for her “word salad” given during her speech. She responded to these comments, stating, “You know what? Let me say something about this: we are here because we are a democracy. Fighting for a democracy. And understanding the difference here.”
She spoke about her beliefs towards abortion rights, emphasising the importance of women being able to make decisions about their own bodies and their right to do so without men having the final say. During the same speech, it appears her nerves may have gotten the best of Harris with stuttering and the endless repeating of filler statements such as “understand the difference here, moving forward, moving forward, understand the difference here." Trump supporters seized the opportunity to ridicule her on X (formerly Twitter), “The gibberish never ends," a Fox News contributor stated online. It appears the VP, viewed as having a lacklustre run in her position under Joe Biden, was no match for fans on X, which has been dubbed a Trump-supporting platform.
